One Month Old...

video

Chloe is one month old. The past month has flown by and she has grown A LOT! From her lowest weight of 4 pounds, to her current weight of approximately 6 pounds, she has gained 50% of her body weight...in a month. If she continues at her current rate of weight gain, she will be 45 pounds at 6 months! Ha.

We are doing great and each day entails a new learning experience for Dad. Last night, while feeding Chloe at 4:00am, I learned that you cannot give up when the baby does not want to burp. I tried burping her for about 10 minutes to no avail. I thought, maybe there is no "bubble" in her belly. Bottle goes back in mouth and 5 seconds later, we have projectile vomit. After a sheet change, clothing change, and sponge bath for Chloe, I learned my lesson...baby MUST burp!

Here are some pics from the past month.

But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GOODNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL. Against such things there is no law. --Galatians 5:22-23

Chloe is definitely helping to bring out the fruits of the spirit in my life.

I happen to be another reader of your blog who does not know you, but I have been so blessed by reading your blog. I lost my father to cancer when I was twelve, so I understand a little bit of what you and your family are experiencing. I think what has touched me the most in following this blog, is your faithfulness in trusting and following the Father. I just pray that you continue to cling to Him and trust Him for He is truly a faithful God. Praying for you, Chloe and your family.

Your faith and love for Chloe, and Sara the same, is amazing. Not many men would be able to be the man of God and father you are in a time such as this. Your reward will be great...unbelievably enough, even greater than sweet Chloe, though that thought seems impossible. :)

The picture of her with the Lovey and with your wifes head scarf made me want to cry - its so sweet. It has to be so hard to loose your sweet wife and raise your little girl without her but it looks like you are doing an awsome job and your wife must be so proud looking down from heaven. Still praying for you and Chloe...you seem to be a great dad! As the mother of a 2 year old and a little girl due in 4 days, let me tell you it's okay to "lose it" some days (or nights!) and just feel exhausted and overwhelmed, especially since you're on your own and grieving. I pray God will continue to renew your energy, your spirit, and to give you the rest you need in Him.

I don't think I've commented before but I been reading and praying for you and your family for a while now...
Sorry but I couldn't help but laugh when I read about the projectile vomit because my baby used to do it too! When I asked my pediatrician about it she told me that sometimes an air bubbled gets trapped in there and the only way for it to get "untrapped" is through a "rocket explosion type launch". Unfortunately, formula comes right along with it! I guess they out grow that b/c my baby is now 4 months old and hasn't done that in a while!

Continuing to pray for God's strength upon your life.

It has been touching to read, especially to see your faith in God hold strong through the storms you all have battled this past year. Your blogs give me insight to some of what my boyfriend must have felt and gone through the past year. He lost his wife to cancer last August -10 days after the birth of their second son. I hope you know God is using your story. I will add you to my prayer list - knowing we trust and believe in a God who will supply ALL of our needs, day by day.

I continue to be amazed at your strength during your time of extreme loss. I can imagine that Sara had a positive outlook on life that you both probably shared. I have noticed in all of her pictures, even the ones where she is shaving her head that she just seemed joyful. Her smile was infectious. It's always easy to rejoice in the good times, but she seemed to rejoice and praise God even in the trials. I can now see through your posts that you are also "praising in this storm". Chloe is a lucky little girl....she has an amazing set of parents. Continuing to pray for you each day.

Awww! Great entry! I love all the pictures. Chloe's growth is a direct result of Dad's great work! You are doing a great job Dad! That lovey blanket is gorgeous and what a beautiful gift. I had a hard time with burping my daughter too when she was little. It could take up to 20 minutes sometimes but it is worth all the work because, well you know what can happen if that 'bubble' doesn't come up. My daughter is now 19 and she burps louder and more often than most men I know. I always ask her why she couldn't do that when at 2am during her feedings! :)
I always found when it was hard to burp her when she was little if you rock or move around with her a little it helps.

Dear Brady and Chloe,
I have to let you both know that when I am up during the "wee" hours--taking care of my baby-- I have thought of you both and I lift you both up to our Heavenly Father. God has been so good to continue to bring y'all to mind and it causes me to pray for y'all. That is an answer to prayer because I want to be a part of the many that are "walking" this road with you and the only way that is possible is through praying for you both. I know how hard the wee hours can be but they won't last and one day Chloe will sleep through the night:).
In the meantime; hang in there you are doing such a great job. My whole family prays for you both. You are an awesome dad and Chloe is so gorgeous. I love the pictures and the updates. You are such an encouragement. I wish I had words to convey how seeing Christ in you and Sara has changed my life -- so much has changed in our family and it stems from y'all living your lives for Jesus. So much has changed and on top of all the wonders that God is (and has been) doing --last night my son accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Praise God! That is one life that now has eternal life with Jesus and God used you (thank you) to bring about things in our lives (my family) so my son could see his need for Christ.
Brady thank you for loving Jesus and I am so full of praise that you cling so tightly to Him. I pray for your Chloe to grow up and know Jesus like her mom and dad. You have no idea how many many people your lives are touching and there are many that are changed and seeking God like never before or those that have accepted Jesus as their Savior.
God Bless you and keep you!
Praying for you both,
Stephaney Roberson

His wife died the day after their daugther was born, about 18 months ago. I thought his blog might be able to provide insight, strength, etc. He's actually in India now with his daughter, Madeline, writing a book about his experience.

I emailed him and told him to hop over to your blog b/c I thought you guys have something very unfortunate in common.

Here's wishing you and Chloe well. Many good thoughts coming your way.

I am amazed by your strengths and inspired by your faith! I went to school with Brent, and when I think of Sarah I remember her always smiling. I hope that you will continue to update all of those that knew her, and those that have been touched through her passing by continuing to update all of us on how you both are doing. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers. With faith you can overcome anything!

Hi Brady, I went to FW High School and came across your blog through mutual Facebook friends. I am praying for you and your beautiful daughter. Just a quick tip to save precious moments in the middle of the night. Put multiple layers of sheet protectors and sheets on the bed. When there's an accident (any number of baby body fluids), you just take off one layer.
