Let the FIGHTING begin...

We just got home from the hospital. Our concerns were confirmed today...Sara has Stage IIB Infiltrating Ductal Breast Cancer. The lymph node biopsy also came back positive, meaning that there are cancer cells in her lymph nodes. We had mentally prepared ourselves for this, and the discussions with the doctors were "emotionally stable".

Sara will undergo surgery at Tripler (here in Hawaii), followed by chemotherapy and follow on treatment at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. We're happy that we will be close to home, but the fact that we are leaving Japan early is VERY difficult on both of us.

The LORD is my STRENGTH and my SHIELD. My heart TRUSTS in HIM and I am helped. My heart leaps for JOY and I will give THANKS to him in song.
--Psalms 28:7

It is so very difficult to get our heads around this. Jesus said the rain falls on the fields of the just and the unjust alike. Yet, it seems so unfair. Sometimes in these darkest hours we recall the 22nd Psalm, "My God my God why have you forsaken me..." We know that Psalm ends with praise for the Lord, and faith, and confidence. So now, we who love you and miss you find our faith and our hope in the Lord as we pray for healing, for wisdom, and peace. God speed Sara and Brady.

Brad and Sara,

Cassy and I have been following your blog daily and we'll continue following Sara's progress while you both fight hard through the treatments. We're glad to hear that you'll be close to home and that you'll have a support team nearby. I (Luc) have been there with several of my family members who have had cancer, and I know how scary it can be. Stay strong, stay positive, and have faith. I watched my grandfather fight his way back from throat cancer and it was heart wrenching at times during the chemo, but so inspirational to see so many people rally to support him and eventually help him beat it. You're in our thoughts and we're pulling for you both!

Brady and Sara-
You have been in my prayers non stop. I'm so sorry to hear the results but I know that if anyone can pull through this it is you two. You are 2 of the strongest couples and are so close to the Lord that he will lift you up through all of this and comfort you. Please know that we are always thinking and praying for you. Sara and Brady,
I just spoke to Meagan Davidson and she told me what is going on. I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I am amazed at the strength that you two have. What a wonderful example of faith you are to the rest of us. I know the Lord will bless and watch over you and give you even more strength to overcome this trial. We will pray for more doors to be opened and for a quick recovery. We love you.

Dearest Brady and Sara,
For starters, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! "Every good and perfect gift comes from above..." James 1:17. Parenthood is beyond words...definitely Heaven's greatest miracle!!!
Sara, you are a true angel on Earth! I know that God will keep your attitude positive and your contagious smile smiling! Knowing you like I do, I can be assured that you will stay strong, trust in God, and reassure the rest of us that God has this under control! I love you!
Brady, thank you for keeping us updated. I am happy to hear that our fellow military families are taking good care of the two of you in Hawaii. Tripler is awesome. Enjoy paradise!!! Lots of love and prayers, Jennifer (Comer) Pate
